POLICE have confirmed that a pensioner has died after an incident on the railway tracks.
On Friday, emergency services rushed to Widnes station at around 10.45am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesperson has now confirmed that the person was a 73-year-old man.
At the time, a spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Following the incident, there was disruption on the railway line, mainly between Warrington and Liverpool.
