TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a Widnes tattoo artist.

An inquest has been opened into the death of Dean Barry Brabin, who was found dead at his home on Clapgate Crescent on November 5.

Mr Brabin was found in his bed by a family member, who alerted the police.

Officers were joined at the scene by paramedics, who confirmed he had died, aged just 35.

It is understood Mr Brabin was a tattoo artist at Primal Tattoo Studio at The Barnyards on Birchfield Road.

His colleague, Sam McIntyre, took to social media to pay tribute.

He said: “I never thought I'd ever have to write this post but unfortunately I do.

“It is with a very heavy heart but I have to let you all know that Dean Brabin has sadly passed away.

“He was my colleague, my mentor and my friend. I owe everything I know about my career to Dean, he taught me everything.

“He was an amazing man, a fantastic artist and most of all a great friend.

“He will be missed dearly everyday for as long as I live.”

Senior coroner Jacqueline Devonish opened an inquest into Mr Brabin’s death at Cheshire Coroner’s Court on Wednesday morning (November 22).

She explained that his body was identified by his brother, Adam Brabin, who also shared a tribute on Facebook.

“For people who don't already know my big brother Dean Brabin passed away on Sunday,” the post read.

“We are all absolutely devastated at his unexpected passing and nothing will ever be the same.”

A case review has been scheduled for January 21 ahead of the full inquest on June 11, 2024.
