A DOG had to be rescued after falling into a canal.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Upper Mersey Road in Widnes on Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 4pm, crews were sent to help following reports that a dog had fallen into the Sankey Canal, with a large crowd gathering.
Fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, rope rescue unit and a boat from Widnes, Runcorn, Lymm and Penketh stations were all in attendance.
Firefighters were able to rescue the dog using the service boat.
