A QUAINT curry house in Widnes has scooped a Good Food award.

Spice of India on Widnes Road has been recognised by the prestigious food critique site, as a winner of the Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes award this year.

The Cuerdley Cross restaurant was praised for its ‘food quality, service and value’.

Blue Ribbon awards are bestowed to a selection of eateries that show high customer ratings and votes for their food.

Good Food Awards combine customer feedback, votes and online reviews to ensure that their awards are ‘based on merit’ and ‘reflect the opinions of actual diners’.

Spice of India is highly rated online, receiving 4.5 stars on trip advisor, and with recent reviews claiming it to be the ‘best Indian for miles’.

One reviewer said: “Absolutely the best Indian restaurant ever.

“The Staff and Service are exceptional, and the food is outstanding. It is my absolute favourite place.”

The restaurant serves up a range of curry house classics including tikka dishes, tandoori prawns, jalfrezi, masala and balti, to name a few.

Followed by a range of tasty biryani dishes with a choice of lamb, chicken and prawn.

And some spicy chef recommendations that warn they pack a lot of heat.

Children can also eat for the extremely reasonable price of £3.95 for a main meal, with choices including burger or sausage with chips.

Good Food Awards have been running for the last two decades and the bar is set high for those contenders who wish to enter.

Since 2016 there has been a minimum requirement for good food hygiene ratings to be achieved in order to apply and be in the running.
