AN investigation is under way after ‘several’ people have fallen unwell following a visit to a venue in Widnes.

On Saturday, ice hockey team Widnes Wild played at Planet Ice which is based at The Hive Leisure Park.

Yesterday, Monday, the team took to social media to share that they had received reports of attendees with ‘varying levels of illness’ following the game.

“We have reported these to Planet Ice and will update everyone once we have received a response,” a post on X reads.

On social media, one person claimed they had to attend hospital with breathing difficulties following their visit to Planet Ice.

According to Planet Ice's website, the venue is now 'temporarily closed' due to 'unforeseen circumstances'.
