TWO Runcorn social care workers have been shortlisted for prestigious regional awards recognising their high level of commitment and support.

Michelle Carmon, a care home manager, and Phillip Gahan, a support worker, have been nominated as finalists at the Great North West Care Awards.

Hosted by Care Talk, a care sector magazine, the awards celebrate the highest quality teams, people and projects in social care across the north west of England.

Both Michelle and Phillip work for social care charity Community Integrated Care at Holmdale Care Home in Weston Village.

Here, they support adults with learning disabilities to live independent and fulfilling lives in the community.

Managing director for the north west at Community Integrated Care, Samantha Brennan, said: “Michelle and Philip are both highly committed, professional and compassionate colleagues.

“Their team at Holmdale goes above and beyond to provide support that is person-centred and encourages as much independence as possible.”

Phillip has been shortlisted for the Support Worker Award, which celebrates a select few care workers who display consistently high quality and compassionate support across the north west.

Having worked in social care for 41 years and now leading a team of more than 30 dedicated support workers, Michelle has been shortlisted for the Care Home Registered Manager Award, commending her leadership skills and commitment to the people she supports and her staff team.

Michell said: “We both have such a passion for working in social care and supporting people to live lives full of choice and happiness.

“For our work to be recognised at the awards means the world – we are over the moon.”

Winners of the event will commence to the National Finals of the Great British Care Awards in March 2024.
