A HOSPICE in Halton wants to spread festive cheer with its annual Santa Dash event to raise vital funds.

Halton Haven Hospice’s festive tradition returns on December 10.

It annually sees hundreds of residents dress up in Father Christmas costumes to complete the 3km fun run.

This raises money for the hospice to continue providing a peaceful space, specialist end-of-life care and support to patients and their families.

Runners will be dashing over the iconic Silver Jubilee Bridge, from West Bank Boat Club Café to Spike Island in Widnes, to the finish by Costa in Runcorn.

Tina Gill, fundraising manager at Halton Haven Hospice, said: “It is always an amazing sight, seeing hundreds of Santa’s running over the Silver Jubilee Bridge in support of our local hospice.

“This is your chance to be part of something special.

“Pick up your Santa suit, have fun and raise some money for your much-loved hospice.”

Merseyflow is sponsoring the event and is registering a team of 40 staff members to join in the festive spirit and participate in the fun run.

Helen Williams, marketing manager at Merseyflow, added: “The dedicated Halton Haven Hospice team does an amazing job caring for residents and their families.

“We would love members of the community to sign up to help raise much-needed funds for this fantastic cause.”

The Santa Dash entry fee is £18 for adults, £10 for children up to 16 years old, free for under 5s, £2 for dogs and £47 for a family ticket.

The registration cost includes a Santa suit, a medal on completion and a mince pie.
