Fire crews from Widnes and Penketh attended the house fire on Oxford Street this afternoon, Sunday.

Firefighters were alerted to the scene at approximately 12.27pm and entered the property using breathing apparatus.

Using two horse reel jets, crews tackled the flames spreading on the first floor of the house.

Further equipment was used to to extinguish flames on the outside of the property before neighboring houses were checked for fire spread.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire Service said: "This afternoon we attended a house fire involving an E-Scooter on charge in a bedroom.

"If you charge or store your E-Scooter indoors ensure you install smoke detection. In the event of a lithium-ion battery fire, do not attempt to extinguish the fire. Get out, stay out, call 999."
