TEN members of staff at a Widnes care home have bared all in a cheeky new calendar.

The group from Widnes Hall care home came up with the idea to raise money for an amazing cause. The not-for-profit care home is launching a Dare to Bare Calendar to fundraise for their own accessible minibus and to support Breast Cancer.

Angie Taker, the activity champion at the Coronation Drive home, told us that wheelchair transport in the local area is scarce, resulting in many organised trips being cancelled due to transport not showing up.

She said: “Having our own minibus would enable us to take our residents on day trips.

“These trips are a great opportunity to reminisce with trips down memory lane, which is especially rewarding for our residents living with dementia.

“Due to the increased costs at the moment, we are finding it very expensive.”

Runcorn and Widnes World:

Dot Robinson, a resident at Widnes Hall and Breast Cancer survivor, inspired the launch of the Dare to Bare Calendar fundraiser after having successfully done two in the past to raise money for Breast Cancer.

This is the first fundraiser of its kind for the care home, which has been working closely with Dot to contact local businesses for sponsorship, who will be advertised on the calendar.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with 10 staff members agreeing to go bare for the wonderful cause within two hours of its launch.

Angela said: “We would like to thank our photographer Glen who has been really kind in donating his time and expertise for free.

“Thank you to all staff who have been very brave in taking part in the calendar.”

The calendar for 2024 will go on sale this November for £10 each, and a £5 deposit can be placed due to high demands. Contact Angela.taker@anchor.org.uk for details.
