FINAL rehearsals are underway ahead of a production of ‘Kinky Boots’ coming to the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn.

The much loved and award winning musical is based on the 2005 film of the same name, featuring music and lyrics from Cyndi Lauper.

D&S productions, a Wirral based community theatre company, will be bringing the true story, based on Northamptonshire shoemaker W.J Brooks.

Speaking about bringing the production to The Brindley, Donna Dale said "This show has some real belly laughs in it as well as some truly moving moments and the message of accepting differences and helping people by lifting them up is beautiful.

“With music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, I can guarantee that you’ll be dancing in the aisles by the end and downloading the soundtrack on your way home from the theatre."

Kinky Boots tells the story of protagonist Charlie, who takes over a shoemaking factory following the death of the owner. After discovering the factory is failing, with little chance of success, a chance meeting with a drag queen called Lola and her amazing dancing Angels is the catalyst for change and the idea to switch from brogues to kinky boots is born.

Leading the cast are Chris Doyle as Charle Price and Jon Croft as Lola.

Playing young Lola is actor Thomas Graves for whom the show is very much a family affair as his Mum Anna is also in the cast.

Speaking about both of them being cast in the show, Anna said "It’s been a unique bonding experience attending rehearsals and tottering round with Lola’s Angels in our heels together.

It’s not easy for a 12-year-old to do but he’s as unique as Lola herself and I couldn’t be prouder of him. In fact, Lola’s ethos of ‘Just be who you want to be’ couldn’t be more apt."
