THE ‘hard working’ and ‘committed students’ of Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy (OBA) in Runcorn celebrated after receiving their A-Level results this morning, Thursday.

Plenty of happy faces left through the gates clutching the results they had waited in anticipation for all summer.

Some standout achievements highlighted by the academy included student Wendy Kelley who achieved a distinction* in animal management, a Distinction* in hospitality, and a distinction in computer science.

She will be going on to study primary education at Liverpool John Moores University.

Meanwhile Jack Dalton, who received an A in maths, a B in physics and a distinction in BTEC engineering, is going on to study aerospace engineering at the University of Liverpool.

Head of sixth form, Scott Fenner praised pupils in light of the results, saying: “The results achieved today reflect the hard work and commitment of many students and staff.

“This set of exams are the first formal examinations our Year 13 students have sat, since the pandemic, and I am proud of the way they have risen to the challenge.

“I wish each student all the very best. I hope everyone stays in touch to let us know how they are doing; everyone is always welcome back, anytime.”

Also among the high achievers of the day was Niamh Watcham who obtained an A* in her EPQ, an A in English literature, a B in Spanish and a B in history, and will be going on to study English literature at the University of Liverpool.

Isacc Evans successfully achieved an A in biology, a B in business studies and a B in English literature, who is going on to study biological science at the University of Liverpool.

Principal at OBA, Mrs Katheryn Evans said: “We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form students for their hard work and determination over the last two years.

“We are beyond proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them flourish in their next steps. 

“They deserve every success and I, along with the rest of the team here at OBA, wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”
