PRIMARY schools across Widnes will receive generous donations of brand-new flat screen TVs.

To the delight of Warrington Primary Academy Trust, eight of its schools will benefit from 37-inch flat screen TV sets thanks to Northwich-based consultancy business Gleave.

The firm, which supports Amazon with its management of surplus warehouse equipment, came up with the idea of donating to local schools.

Gleave employee Fiona Waite said: “We were working through items no longer needed due to spec changes and the TVs were on the list.

“One of our team knew that these would make a big impact at local schools, so we worked with Amazon to make this donation an exception to our usual route for reusing, repurposing or recycling.”

The settings in Warrington, Widnes and Frodsham expressed their gratitude for the donations which will be ‘a valuable addition’ to learning resources for the children who attend to use.

The primary schools in WPAT include Alderman Bolton, Beamont, Bruche, Evelyn Street and Penketh, as well as Ditton and Kingsway in Widnes, and Frodsham Primary Academy.

Nikki Edwards, WPAT’s finance and operations director, added: “We are so grateful to Gleave and Amazon for thinking about the needs of local schools with this generous donation.

“The sets will be a valuable addition to our bank of audio-visual equipment and will be used to show learning resources in classrooms across our eight primary schools.”
