A BRAND new music festival designed for ‘songs in the sunshine’ is coming to Widnes this summer.

Paying tribute to some of the greatest acts of all time, The Groove festival will be staged at Wilmere Lane Sports Ground on Saturday, August 12.

Featuring music of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John and Queen, with headliners ABBA Revival closing the show, the one-day event is set to be the ‘feel-good event of the summer’, organisers say.

Money raised by ticket sales will go towards supporting Liverpool-based charity Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

“We are delighted to be headlining The Groove festival this August,” said John from ABBA Revival.

“This type of event is one of our favourites to play – out in the sunshine and just grooving along to some of the best songs of all time.

“We cannot wait to see everyone there.”

Described by BBC Radio 2’s Johnnie Walker as ‘ABBAsolutely superb’, the five times winners of the National Tribute Awards will also be joined by fellow tribute acts Forever Queen and Totally Elton.

Seven Wonders will be covering classics from Fleetwood Mac, while The Fools on the Hill will be belting out the best of The Beatles.

The Get Back Beats complete the line-up with a set of 60s and 70s favourites.

Tickets start from £15, with all proceeds supporting Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, and for more information visit trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/38581
