A SPACE for pupils to take a breather away from 'the hustle and bustle of school' has been created at primary school in Widnes.
The Learning Lodge just finished construction at St Gerard’s, ready for pupils to utilise the pastoral area.
As well as being a safe space for children to have a moment away, there is also a counselling service that can be accessed there for anyone who needs it.
Assistant head of the school, Edd Naylor commented on the new hub, saying: “We are already seeing the impact of this provision in our school and the children are already coming up with ideas to develop this area even further.
“The children are proud of this new space and a gardening club has been set up to develop the children's understanding of planting, and also to develop ownership of their new space.”
A group of pupils congregated to cut the ribbon and officially open the Learning Lodge.
