TALENTED dance students took part in an exciting performing arts event in London where two lucky pupils secured places at a prestigious dance programme.

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy’s enthusiastic dancers participated in the event, Move IT, a major highlight in the dance calendar each year.

Thirty students from different year groups attended the three-day event, boarding the coach for an early start in Runcorn at 5am to travel down to London.

Upon arrival at the ExCel venue, students participated in dance classes before watching live shows, talent spotting on the free-style stage and watching and joining in acrobatic events.

The group also had the opportunity to visit dance school stalls, talk to professionals and even undertake some retail therapy for dance clothes, accessories, and props.

Part of the event allowed the pupils to get involved in a lyrical jazz talent spotting class, with places at a professional dance programme up for grabs.

Head of dance at OBA, Miss Power said: “We were over the moon that Adam in Year 7 and Codey in Year 11, secured two of those four places.

“As a result, the two boys have been invited to attend a professional program residential over the summer. This is a fantastic opportunity for them, and I can’t wait to hear all about it”.

In the afternoon the students participated in an ‘extremely challenging’ commercial class at the venue which Miss Power said the group performed ‘brilliantly’ throughout.

The trip was a great success and OBA are already planning there next adventure for the dance students.
