THE celebration of King Charles III’s coronation is likely to be one of the biggest events of the year – with bunting and parties expected to fill streets up and down the country.

An official ceremony for His Majesty The King and the Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday May, 6.

Halton Borough Council is providing all the information on how to apply for a road closure in preparation for street parties to be held in the area.

A nationwide celebration will be held on the Sunday, May 7, where neighbours and communities across the UK are invited to share food and fun together through Coronation Big Lunch events.

Along with getting to know your neighbours and surrounding residents better, the event will also be a great way to commemorate the momentous occasion which will go down in history.

Organised by the Big Lunch team at the Eden Project and funded by The National Lottery, the event will be open to apply for online along with street closures for your residential neighbourhood.

For assistance in planning a coronation bash, free resources are available on the Big Lunch website, CoronationBigLunch.com

To hold a street party, you will need to apply to formally close off your street. There is no cost, but your application needs to be in by March 31 to enable the council to carry out the street closure process.

The guidance and application forms are on the council’s website, and information incudes conditions that must be met for a street party to take place.

You can send your completed form by e-mail to streetworks.tm@halton.gov.uk or take a printed version to any Halton Direct Link office.
