A NEW state-of-the-art production facility has officially opened in Runcorn.

Sandon Global has begun operations at its new manufacturing and office premises on Stuart Road.

The facility was officially opened by mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram following a funding grant of £2million from the combined authority.

The new space for the engineering firm will specialize in producing laser engraved equipment for the international printing industry.

The company was established in 2004 and has been at the forefront of its industry due to continuous investment in research and development.

It employees 82 staff from the region and supplies almost 70 countries worldwide.

CEO of Sandon Global, John Millington, said: “Thanks to the commitment of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Strategic Investment Fund, we continue to be a leading player in the global print industry.

“This new state-of-the-art production and office facility enables us to expand our capacity and bring the world to Runcorn to see what true print innovation looks like today.”

Mayor Rotheram added: “Being a member of the Liverpool City Region means that local businesses in Halton can access funding and growth opportunities that previously might have seemed out of reach.

“Our funding is helping to transform businesses for the better, but we know the impact of our investments means more than that.

“It means secure, well-paid jobs and training opportunities for local people living in a strong, prosperous economy.”
