A CAR caught fire in Widnes after a driver collided with a telegraph pole.
The driver crashed into a telegraph pole on Carr Lane, Widnes, which caused their vehicle to catch fire.
The driver in question fled following the crash.
Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire attended the scene of the incident, with firefighters extinguishuing the fire.
Police searched the surrounding area for the driver but were unable to find them.
Widnes fire temporarily closed the road.

A spokesperson for Cheshire police has said:
"At 9.50pm on Sunday 22 January police were called to reports of a collision on Carr Road, Hale.
Police attended and found the car had collided with a telegraph pole and the driver had fled the scene.
Officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the driver and no arrests have been made."
