A WIDNES resident has been included in the New Year's Honours list.

Rachael Fraser, care services manager of charity Caring Connections has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the New Year.s Honours 2023.

She was recognised for her dedication to supporting vulnerable adults throughout the pandemic.

Throughout the pandemic she oversaw the delivery of care and support packages, alongside developing a range of wellbeing programmes to support staff and introducing support schemes to reduce social isolation for vulnerable people in their own homes.

She showed true resilience and put her community before her own wellbeing.

She has always been an advocate of championing the role of social care workers and how social care is a profession not just a job. As an individual she has been within the social care sector for over a decade rising through the ranks to now oversee care across the North West, in which she dedicates herself to supporting those most vulnerable.

The award of this medal now accompanies her MBA which she also completed through an apprenticeship scheme within the pandemic.

Rachael saidL "I am so proud to receive this honour, never in a million years did I think I would ever have these letters after my name. I would really like to dedicate this to all the hard working social care workers out there who really don’t receive the recognition they deserve.”
