St Berteline's & St Christopher's Church (commonly known as St Bert's) in Windmill Hill have been the recepients of a huge national fundraising boost for Churches.

The National Churches trust have made a pay-out of £421,000 to various churches across the country.

St Bert's has been made one of the beneficiaries of this, receiving £25,000 for new toilets and a kitchen for the church.

Huw Edwards, Broadcaster and Vice President of the National Churches trust said "I’m delighted that St Berteline and St Christopher’s is receiving a Christmas funding boost for installing modern community facilities. The accessible toilets and larger kitchen will help keep the church open and in use for the benefit of local people.

“Whether seeking quiet reflection, access to community services or as a place to worship, the National Churches Trust helps hundreds of churches each year and with the support of local people, keeps them thriving today, and tomorrow.”

The National Churches trust have given out over 200 grants in 2022, totalling over £1.6 Million.

Church Member and volunteers for St Bert's Carole Lewis said:

"We are very grateful for the support of National Churches Trust.

From my perspective this project is all about human flourishing not bricks and mortar. It is what can  happen inside the building that counts in the end.

As well as spiritual nourishment it is a place for all regardless of faith or no faith, identity, ethnicity and of course disability, to meet and enjoy themselves, as well as get support, try new things and develop new skills."
