A RUNCORN academy’s celebration evening has delivered a special award out in memory of ‘much loved’ teacher who died after contracting Covid-19 during the pandemic.

Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy granted two of their students with ‘Outstanding Science’ awards in honour of Emma Clarke, a 35-year-old science teacher who taught at the school.

Ruby Bramwell and Ben Kavanagh were handed the science trophies and reward vouchers which were sponsored by Miss Clarke’s family for the second year running.

The awards evening was hosted at the academy where the dance and drama theatre was transformed for the evening with dressed tables, balloons and treats and tea stands for all to enjoy.

Students from last year’s Year 11 and 13 cohorts had been nominated by teaching staff for awards including Highest Achiever, Subject Awards and Attendance.Runcorn and Widnes World: Year 11 student, Chantelle O’Neill Kelly accepting her awardYear 11 student, Chantelle O’Neill Kelly accepting her award (Image: Newsquest)
