COREY Norman of Toulouse Olympique has been suspended and fined £500 after being found guilty by an independent Operational Rules Tribunal of a Grade F charge of 'Other Contrary Behaviour' during last week's clash with Warrington Wolves.

His ban is for eight matches, meaning he will not play again this term and four matches of his suspension will carry over into the 2023 campaign.

Holmes and Norman had been having a running battle through the game.

Replays show Norman, 31, particularly aggressive in defence before Holmes ran at him from a tap penalty in the 53rd minute.

Norman's hand is seen on Holmes' posterior, and Wire hooker Danny Walker points out an issue to the touch judge.

On the next tackle Toulouse were penalised for offside and during the stoppage Holmes is seen speaking to the touch judge who then sends a message to referee Chris Kendall.

The ref calls over Holmes and the two captains, Warrington's Stefan Ratchford and Toulouse's Tony Gigot, and signals the incident as going on report to be investigated by the Match Review Panel.

In his post-match press conference Wire head coach Daryl Powell singled out Holmes for his performance and the way he had dealt with being shuffled around during the game, starting in the middle at loose forward and gradually moving wider to second row and centre to account for injury losses.

Holmes, who scored Warrington's opening try against Toulouse after successfully getting on the end of a Matty Ashton kick, had racked up an incredible 63 tackles in the previous week's Warrington loss at Wigan.

Brisbane-born Norman is in his first year with Toulouse Olympique, coming out of retirement in May to help the promoted French club's bid for Super League survival.

He has made 11 appearances for the club and the 31st-minute try he scored from a scrum move against Warrington was his first for the club.

Norman played most recently in the NRL for St George Illawarra Dragons, where he spent three seasons prior to five years at Parramatta Eels and four campaigns at his first professional club Brisbane Broncos.

He has made one State of Origin appearance for Queensland.
