Victoria Park Vets is now open in Latchford

Archie - who was based at White Cross Vets on Queensbury Way - and his wife Sarah Cumming, also a vet, have been looking for premises in the nearby area for a while.

They have now found their ideal veterinary space – Victoria Park Vets on Knutsford Road in Latchford.

Sarah, a qualified vet of 20 years, said: “Clients want family-run vets and to see the same face every time – they want that familiarity.

“That is what they want because dogs and cats are becoming more family members than just pets.

“We can function as we want to function and we want to make it affordable as we can.

“We have been looking for a premises for around five years. We’ve been beaten to a few and then we got lucky with this space.

“It’s in the ideal location.

“For us, the set-up allows for flexible working while managing appointments, looking after the kids and it works for the clients as well.

“It’s a dream come true we never thought it would actually happen.

“Our whole family has been involved in the journey, Elizabeth our nine-year-old daughter helped design the logo, both of our mum’s cut the ribbon on our opening day and Sarah’s sister and dad helped to move and install the kennels.

"We are incredibly grateful to our friends, family and clients for all their support.”

The independent vets bring together Sarah’s quality in specialised surgeries and Archie’s in medicine cases and consulting.

Other members of the team include head nurse Kristy Seddon of Widnes.

Archie added: “I’ve always been keen to have a practice but it’s only been since I met Sarah and we’ve settled down that it came about.

“By the third week, we had 130 clients so it’s building up.

“We’re all about good service, providing the same faces and we’re both good vets.

“For case continuity and to provide a high level of service, you need to see the same faces and people that know about your pet or condition.”

The vets are providing a service that Archie believes is unique to Warrington where they offer a pet health plan where one of the benefits includes unlimited free consultations.

The 47-year-old continued: “I think the idea will be unique to Warrington and there shouldn’t be any barriers to people seeking veterinary attention.

“If you’re on this plan then there aren’t any questions as to whether you should get them seen to and generally, they aren’t as sick as they haven’t been left for a few days until they get to that stage.”
