HALTON's bonfire night fireworks display is set to return for the first time since the start of the pandemic, with potential sponsors being invited to help make it a success.

Halton Council axed its annual extravaganza in both 2020 and 2021, citing surging infection rates and the need to 'reprioritise its resources' due to its pandemic response.

But the authority has confirmed the display is set to return with a bang again this year on Saturday, November 5.

The council said spectator viewing will be available from Mersey Road, Runcorn, and St Mary’s Road in Widnes. A spokeswoman said exact timings will be announced nearer the date.

Cllr Paul Nolan, Halton Council's portfolio holder for culture and leisure, said: “We’re delighted to confirm that the fireworks display will happen this year as it’s such a great night for all the family to enjoy, so we’re all looking forward to a great show!”

The council said it is in the process of raising sponsorship for the event. If you would like to support the event please contact: Sally.mcdonald@halton.gov.uk
