POLICE are investigating after vandals torched rubbish in a wood.
Firefighters were called to Lanark Gardens in Widnes shortly before 8.30pm on Sunday, July 31.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters put out the fire and informed police of the incident as it is possible it was started deliberately.”
Firefighters dealt with another fire in the open in Widnes at around 10pm on the same evening.
A quantity of rubbish caught fire on Dundalk Road.
Crews put out the fire using buckets of water.
