A RUGBY League player has announced an injury that would make anyone grimace.

Jack Johnson, a former Warrington Wolves, Widnes Vikings, Rochdale Hornets and Featherstone Rovers full-back or winger who now plays for Newcastle Thunder, has revealed surgically having a testicle removed last night after a training injury.

The 23-year-old said in a Tweet: "Not my greatest Thursday ever, with the old testicle exploding at training.

"Had it removed last night. Will be back soon, just a little bit lighter."

Somehow, Johnson has maintained his sense of humour through the ordeal and the post-surgery swelling by adding a laughing emoji.

Johnson, who hails from Audenshaw in Greater Manchester, played in Super League over five seasons while full-time with The Wire.
