A NEW Caribbean restaurant is now open in Widnes as of today, Wednesday.

Pixi’s Caribbean Flavas is based on Albert Road and follows on from the popular takeaway on Bridge Street in Warrington.

The restaurant can welcome up to 14 guests inside and came about after suggestions from customers.

Head chef Pixian Bynloss said: “As well as serving our dishes to the Warrington area we also have a lot of customers travelling from Widnes and Runcorn, Halton, Liverpool and Merseyside in general.

“We kept getting asked to open a shop in that area and due to the large volume of customers travelling and again through their support as well we ventured over to Widnes.

“We are grateful to our loyal customers of Warrington that help to support a small family-run business. Through continuous support, we have been able to expand.

“It’s only 15 mins from our Warrington shop.”

Pixian explained that the inside is a ‘little nicer’ as it’s a restaurant.

The 46-year-old continued: “We’ve spent a little more on the building and decorations look so nice inside.

“We want to make our customers feel as if they are in the Caribbean and the menu will be mostly the same things with a few new editions.

“As the Widnes branch has more cooking space we’ve been able to add a few new things to the menu.

“Some new meals include build your own box with four types of meat and four sides in one big box, jerk smashed beef patties and jerk lamb chops.

“We are assessing how this goes and eventually if all goes well we can get a larger seating area as there is also room upstairs. We didn’t want to overwhelm ourselves by providing too many seats so we are taking it slow so we can provide a better service.

"We are very excited, proud and honoured but we wouldn’t be where we are today without our loyal customers helping us to grow.

“It helps that we’ve also got some top-class employees that work very hard and are very passionate about the role within the business. Some of our staff have been with us for more than one-and-a-half-years years and we tend to treat our staff like family too.

“It feels like one big family at times. The passion is what helps us to keep on top of our game. It helps that we are all food lovers."

Pixian, who lives in Warrington town centre, believes the business has become so popular due to the Caribbean element with a twist.

“We provide the traditional Jamaican dishes as well as some English dishes but with a Caribbean twist,” added Pixian.

“We like to be different, try new things and innovate.

“Our island chips are definitely one of our popular options alongside our jerk chicken and steak box and our unique tasting fried chicken strip boxes.

“But everything on the menu sells and we often run out of food. We do recommend customers to order early and to pre-order via our website.”
