POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was attacked by three men during a street robbery.

The 56-year-old victim was walking on Whitchurch Way in Runcorn shortly before 11.45pm on Thursday, June 9, when she was approached by the trio.

One of the males grabbed bags she was carrying, pushing her to the floor and causing her minor injuries.

They then fled in the directions of Grangeway in possession of the two bags, which contained a quantity of cash.

Cheshire Police say the attackers were in their late teens or early 20s and of a slim build, while they were wearing dark coloured clothing.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Detective constable James Simpson said: “Thankfully the victim did not sustain serious injuries as a result of the incident, but the robbery has understandably left her extremely shaken up.

“There have been a number of enquiries underway in the local area, and I would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“As part of our enquiries, we are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen something that didn’t look quite right to come forward with information.

“I’d also ask residents with CCTV and dashcam footage from the area to send this to us, if they have not already done so, as we believe it will help us with the investigation.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number IML1289248, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
