WHEN Emma Smith launched a new business in 2019 she couldn’t have anticipated how difficult the next three years would be as she fought to make a success of Event Cheshire during the Covid-19 pandemic.

But the Sandymoor resident’s business has gone from strength to strength even during lockdowns and Event Cheshire has just been crowned New Business of the Year at County Brides’ annual awards ceremony.

The north west wedding awards received more than 2,500 nominations and Event Cheshire was shortlisted for three trophies on the night – venue stylist, artificial florist and new business of the year – taking home top prize in the final category.

Emma attended the glittering awards ceremony at Mere Golf Resort and Spa with some of her outstanding team, who work alongside her to create and deliver bespoke event installations.

Emma said: “It’s incredible to think we’ve won this award.

“It was a completely surreal moment where time seemed to stand still.

“It’s been a massive confidence boost for me and the team who feel that all the hard work they have put in has been truly recognised amongst some of the greatest suppliers in the industry.

“We are truly excited for what the future holds and we want to put Warrington firmly on the map as a town that knows how to celebrate in style.”

The former Bridgewater High School pupil has transformed some of Warrington’s buildings over the past few months including Counter’s Coffee Bar at the old Parr’s Bank near Central Station and Brhaive hair and beauty salon in Stockton Heath.

Event Cheshire was asked to be the official floral design team for Boodles May Fest at Chester Races earlier this year and work on White Cube Art Gallery Exhibition at Arley Hall.

Rearranged weddings and special celebrations will be keeping Emma and the team busy over the next few months before they turn their attention to creating some stunning Christmas installations later in the year.
