POLICE are investigating reports of shocking cruelty towards wildlife in Widnes.
Officers say they have been informed over recent days of youths throwing objects at wildfowl in Victoria Park.
The force’s Rural Crime Team has visited the park on patrol to ensure everything was in order.
Officers from the unit are to work closely with local police community support officers to prevent further occurrences and attempt to identify those responsible.
PCSO Graham, from the Rural Crime Team, said: “I have spent part of my shift in the Widnes area.
“I have been to Victoria Park after concerns were raised in relation to youths throwing things at the wildfowl on the park.
“We will be working closely with the local PCSO in the area to hopefully assist them with this matter.”
