POLICE are investigating a potential arson incident in Runcorn which took place in the early hours of this morning, Thursday.
One fire engine from Runcorn Fire Station rushed to Camelot Way at 12.48am after receiving reports of a car on fire.
On arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered the car – a Land Rover Freelander – to be ‘well alight’.
Fire crews used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze and left the scene in the hands of Cheshire Police officers, who were also in attendance.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service stated that the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police added: “At 1.08am on Thursday, March 17, police were called to Camelot Way, Town Park, Runcorn following reports of a Land Rover Freelander on fire.
“The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and enquiries are underway.”
