REMEMBER the F Coupe and Son Limited factory in Widnes?

First opened more than 60 years ago, the Lacey Street site manufactured baby clothes and was fondly known as the Baby Linen in the town before it closed in the 1970s.

Now a project aiming to document its history has been set up.

Interested parties – including former employees – are invited to an informal meeting at 1pm tomorrow, Saturday, at the Studio – which is the current occupant of the historic building.

The scheme, by charity Loose, will also focus on Lacey Street itself.

Director Jaki Florek said: “With our project, we are linking together the history of our building when it was used as a small factory, and focussing from the 1950s to the early 70s.

“This was a great period of change, and a contrast to the industries that Widnes is more usually associated.”

Anyone with old photographs or newspaper clippings on the topic is encouraged to bring them along.

They will then be scanned and returned.
