A DUMPED sofa was torched on a Runcorn housing estate and rubbish set on fire at a children's play park.
Firefighters were called to The Uplands in Palacefields shortly after 8.30pm on Thursday.
The crew used a hose reel and a stack drag to put out the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
At 6.45pm on the same day, firefighters dealt with a small rubbish fire on a children’s play park on Roehampton Drive in Beechwood.

An hour earlier, firefighters were called to a small fire involving wooden fencing near the Southern Expressway in Runcorn.
The crew used a water backpack to put out the fire.
