A DUMPED sofa was torched on a Runcorn housing estate and rubbish set on fire at a children's play park.

The crew used a hose reel and a stack drag to put out the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

At 6.45pm on the same day, firefighters dealt with a small rubbish fire on a children’s play park on Roehampton Drive in Beechwood.

The crew used a hose reel to put out the fire.

An hour earlier, firefighters were called to a small fire involving wooden fencing near the Southern Expressway in Runcorn.
