A MOTORIST who failed to stop after an accident in which another vehicle was damaged has been fined in court.

Anthony John Pennington, of Cavan Drive, Haydock, was sentenced at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

Pennington, 48, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a road accident.

On April 4 Pennington, drove a vehicle in Elizabeth Road, Haydock, causing an accident in which damage was caused to another vehicle.

He failed to stop at the scene contrary to the Road Traffic Act.

Pennington was fined £560, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £56 and costs of £400 to the Crown Prosecution Service, making a total of £1,016.

Meanwhile his driving record was endorsed with seven points.

Pennington's guilty plea was taken into account as the sentence was imposed.
