A WIDNES primary school has welcomed a new sensory room – and the impact has already been ‘phenomenal’.

The new addition at St Gerard's Catholic Primary and Nursery School, Lugsdale Road, aims to provide a multi-sensory approach to learning.

It will ensure that all children’s learning styles are acknowledged and catered for.

Karl Landrum, head teacher, said: "We are thrilled with the new addition to our school.

“We have been working hard behind the scenes to plan and develop this new area for our children - this impact has already been phenomenal.

“As the headteacher of St Gerard's I always enjoy watching our plans to come to life.

Runcorn and Widnes World:

“A massive thank you to Rhino Sensory UK for this design and instillation. "

Trish Kent, SENDCo, said: - "As a forward-thinking school, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to engage and motivate our children.

“Our new Sensory Room is another example of our commitment to our children and wider community.

“We are looking forward to witnessing the impact this area has on our school, we are excited to share this with all of our children from Nursery to Year 6."
