FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car fire on Watkinson Way in Widnes yesterday, Saturday.
Shortly before 11.40am, crews from Penketh were called to the scene and found one car well alight.
One firefighter, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
A large fan was used to deflect smoke from other vehicles on the carriageway.
The crew then damped down the scene and used an environmental pack to absorb oil leaking on the road.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hot spots.
Two lanes were closed while emergency services dealt with the fire.
