A WOMAN had to plucked from water by firefighters in Runcorn late last night (Saturday, September 18).

It was just before midnight when Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were made aware of a woman falling into the water on Canal Street in the town centre.

One fire engine from Runcorn attended the scene and the firefighters were able to rescue the woman using a seven foot long ladder.

A spokesman for the service said: "We were called to the scene at 11.55pm.

"Firefighters used a seven metre ladder to rescue a woman who has fallen into the water on canal street, Runcorn.

"The woman is not reported to have sustained any injuries.

"The crew were in attendance for around 30 minutes."
