A BODY has been found in the search for missing dad-of-one Jamie Grimwood.

The 23-year-old, from Runcorn, had been missing for nearly three weeks after disappearing on Monday, August 23.

North Wales Police say a body was found on Saturday evening on land near to where he was last seen in Flint.

In a message posted in a Facebook group created with the aim of finding Mr Grimwood, Christopher Day said: “Tonight, sadly we have found Jamie and unfortunately it wasn't the result we had all hoped for.

"We are unsure what led up to Jamie's final moments, and are deeply saddened by this.

“As a family, we are so very grateful for all the help and support we have received from everybody.

“We would like to now take some time as a family and hope everybody can appreciate this.

“Thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts.”

Hundreds have paid tribute online, with more than £1,500 having been donated to an online fundraising page set up in order to support the family.

A statement posted on the GoFundMe page said: "On behalf of the people of Flint, we have set up this page purely to help ease the pain and stress for Jamie's family.

"As a town, Flint always finds a way of coming together and helping and supporting anyone who needs us.

"Thank you to everyone who helped search, share his image and spread the news.

"We all appreciate every single one of you, reading all of your kind words is such a comfort."

Residents of the town are also planning to hold a balloon launch this evening, Monday, in memory of Mr Grimwood at Flint Fire Station, where he was last sighted while carrying out work on his car.
