HERE are the latest figures on coronavirus in Halton according to Public Health England.

The most recently available data showed that, in the week before September 5, 585 new Covid-19 cases were detected in the borough.

This shows an infection rate of 450.8 for every 100,000 residents, the 71st highest case rate out of 377 local areas in the UK.

By comparison, in the seven days leading up to August 29, there were 480 infections in the borough – or 369.9 per 100,000.

Halton was one of 303 local authority areas in the UK which recorded a week-on-week rise while 74 have seen a fall.

As of yesterday afternoon, Thursday, Warrington Hospital had 21 coronavirus patients – with three in intensive care.

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Covid-19 death toll stands at 523.

Since the start of the pandemic, 2,249 inpatients have been discharged from the Lovely Lane site after receiving treatment for the virus.
