FIREFIGHTERS were called to a road in Widnes yesterday, Thursday, after homes had flooded following the torrential rain.

They received reports of flooding to a property on Milton Road.

On arrival, the crew found that that the road had been flooded with around 2ft to 3ft of water.

A pump was used to remove some of the water away from affected properties.

Firefighters then used chimney rods to clear the drains in order to ease the flow of water in the street.

A road closure was in place while the crew dealt with the incident.

Once the flood water was at an acceptable level, the crew left the scene and provided a handover to the residents.
