THE number of new coronavirus cases recorded in Halton over a seven-day period has fallen for the second day in a row.

Data from Public Health England showed that in the week before July 23, the most recent figures for which figures are available, a total of 478 cases were returned in the town.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 369.4 per 100,000 people which is the 166th highest in the UK compared with all over local authorities.

The previous seven-day period up to July 16 saw 567 cases recorded at a rate of 438.1, which shows a decrease in the town’s Covid rate.

Of the 315 local areas in England, Halton was amongst the 93 per cent that have seen a fall, while 7 per cent have seen a week-on-week rise.
