HERE are the latest official statistics on the spread of coronavirus in Halton as cases decrease across the borough.

Data from Public Health England showed that in the week before July 22, the most recent figures for which figures are available, a total of 524 cases were returned in Halton.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 404.9 per 100,000 people which is the 174thth highest in the UK compared with all over local authorities.

The previous seven-day period up to July 15 saw 523 cases recorded at a rate of 404.1, which shows a decrease in Halton’s Covid rate.

Of the 315 local areas in England, Halton was amongst the 56 per cent that have seen a fall, while 43 per cent have seen a week-on-week rise and two remain unchanged.

Redcar and Cleveland continues to have the highest rate (1,128.0) followed by Middlesborough (1,045.5) and Stockton-on-Tees (946.6).
