Emergency services have been deployed to the scene.
EMERGENCY services are currently dealing with an incident in Sutton Weaver.
At around 3.50pm on Monday, July 19, police initially received reports that an 11-year-old boy may have fallen into the River Weaver near Frodsham.
It has since been established the boy is 16 years old.
Police, fire and ambulance are currently at the scene and searches are ongoing.
The A56 is currently closed in both directions and drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1041072.
Cheshire police say further information will be released when available.
