A SUSPECT has been charged after allegedly breaking into a house and brandishing knives when confronted.

An offender targeted a home on Hobb Lane in Moore at around 1pm on Saturday, July 17, while a 13-year-old occupant was inside.

After a neighbour witnesses the break-in and confronted the intruder, he reportedly pulled out two large knives before being thrown out of the address.

The police helicopter was then used during a search of the area.

Cheshire Police have since confirmed that Alan Cotton, of Fallowfield in Runcorn, has been charged with aggravated burglary in connection with the incident - which was captured on video.

The 50-year-old is due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court in order to face this charge later today, Monday.

A force spokesman said: “Shortly after 1pm on Saturday, July 17, police were called to Hobb Lane in Moore following reports of a man inside an address – the man subsequently left the property prior to police arrival.

“Following an investigation, officers arrested a 50-year-old man at an address in Runcorn on Sunday, July 18, and he was taken into custody.

“Alan Cotton, of Fallowfield in Runcorn, has since been charged with aggravated burglary and is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court on Monday, July 19.”
