WIDNES Vikings suffered a late defeat against London Broncose with a Tendall Gwaze try taking the spoils.

Vikings looked on course to make it three league wins on the spin, having led for most of the contest, but Broncos snatched it 24-22.

Danny Craven had opened the scoring with a try.

However, his spell in the sin bin for holding down was exploted by Broncos Abbas Miski to level.

Ste Tyrer's penalty edged Vikings ahead on the half hour.

Then Adam Lawton plucked Cory Aston’s kick out the air to send Deon Cross the full length for a try.

Widnes led by eight points at the break after a commendable first 40.

London responded four minutes into the second half with Rhys Curran's try and Chris Hankinson’s making it a two-point game.

Lawton hit a short ball from Craven to power over, but Tyrer’s conversion struck the post.

On 67 minutes Roman Navarette levelled with a try after the visitors were awarded a controversial drop out.

But Vikings' Joe Edge marked his return to the side with a try, with the lead four points.

Alas a ball steal from Aston was key late on the game with Jarrod Sammut breaking to send Tendall Gwaze over.

Chris Hankinson's goal sent Vikings to a tough defeat to take after an afternoon's toil.
