A MAN was given oxygen after a two-vehicle crash in Widnes.

Firefighters were called after a Toyota Yaris car and HGV were involved in a collision in the Hutchinson Street area.

No-one was trapped inside either vehicle.

Firefighters administered first aid and oxygen to a man who had been in the car.

He was subsequently handed over to the care of paramedics and taken to hospital in an ambulance.

A large quantity of fuel leaked out of the HGV onto the roadway following the collision.

The police attended to manage traffic.

Road closures were set up around the Desoto Road area and diversions were put in place.

Firefighters used a specialist mobile dam to contain the leak.

Crews also made the car involved in the incident safe.

The incident was handed over to Highways England and the police.

The HGV and the car involved in the collision were both recovered.

Firefighters from Widnes and Runcorn were at the scene for more than three hours
