TWO teenagers have been charged in connection with the knifepoint robbery of a 16-year-old boy in Thatto Heath Park.

The victim had his mobile phone and cash taken by two offenders, one of whom made threats with a knife, at about 8.45pm on Saturday, February 8 2020.

The victim was unhurt but left distressed.

Following enquiries, two teenagers were arrested later that month on suspicion of robbery and interviewed.

They have now both been charged with robbery.

18-year-old Zaine Hylton from Bolton and a 16-year-old boy from Manchester will appear at Merseyside Youth Bail Court next Tuesday, May 18.

Speaking to the Star at the time, the victim's mum claimed her son aged 16, had got the bus from St Helens town centre to Prescot Road and was walking through the park to meet friends on Thatto Heath Road.

But before he could leave the park he was grabbed by two people on bikes.

The incident happened inside the park on the path near the entrance on Lugsmore Lane, near the library.

His mum allaged a knife held to his throat before he handed over his iPhone 11 and a small amount of cash.
