SIR: How depressing to see that the city council has erred in granting permission. The letters from James Miller and others (Chronicle, April 29) make the compelling points against it. Your page 1 reports that the permission may result in action, presumably judicial review. I hope that urgent consideration is being given to this.

Apart from aĺl the reported grounds for applying for judicial review the fundamental flaw in the process has been by the council arrogantly granting itself permission when all such applications should be determined by an outside independent planning authority to ensure objectivity, fairness and transparency.
It is a question of justice not only being done but being seen to be done. By being judge and jury in its own cause the council has completely failed to observe this.
