A SUSPECT has been charged after a stabbing in Runcorn at the weekend.

The victim, who is in his 20s, suffered two puncture wounds during the incident on Hemlock Close in the early hours of Saturday, April 24.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

William Macdonald, of Silkstone Crescent, was arrested in the Manor Farm Mews area of the town in connection with the attack at around 10am yesterday, Monday.

And the 23-year-old has since been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He is due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court in order to face these charges today, Tuesday.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “A 23-year-old man from Runcorn has been charged following a serious assault in the town.

“William Macdonald was arrested in the Manor Farm Mews area of Runcorn at around 10am on Monday, April 26.

“He has subsequently been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

“The charges relate to an incident that occurred in Hemlock Close in the early hours of Saturday, April 24.

“A man in his 20s, who is from Runcorn, sustained two puncture wounds as a result of the incident.

“He was taken to hospital in an ambulance, where he remains receiving treatment.

“His condition in hospital is described as stable.

“Macdonald has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Warrington Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 27.”
