WARRINGTON Borough Council is investigating after dozens of tyres were dumped at a beauty spot.

The huge pile of waste was discovered near to Moore Nature Reserve yesterday, Tuesday.

Runcorn and Widnes World:

Pictures from the scene showed around 50 used tyres had been fly-tipped in the area, which is one of the top birdwatching sites in Cheshire.

WBC has confirmed that the incident has been reported to its environmental crime team and that it is liaising with landowner Peel Holdings in order to have the waste removed.

It is believed that the refuse was dumped using a ‘large vehicle’, and witnesses are urged to come forward.

A council spokesman said: “This incident was reported to our environmental crime team yesterday.

“An environmental crime officer has visited the site and is in discussion with the landowner, Peel Holdings, who will now have to remove the waste from their land.

“The tyres will have been dumped using a large vehicle.

“If anybody has witnessed this or has any information, please report it to the council by calling our contact centre on 01925 443322 or visiting warrington.gov.uk/report.”
